Ashli’s Book 2 Quilt Club

In honor of my birthday – #46 if you are curious – I circled today on the calendar to make a big announcement…

If you like good books, and if you like beautiful quilts, I have a club for you:

Ashli’s Book 2 Quilt Club

As you know, I am an avid reader.

You also know that I am an avid quilter.

What you might not know is that I often design my own quilt projects.

Earlier this year I noticed that the stories I read inspire and motivate the quilts I like to make.

First, I read The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club by Wanda E. Brunstetter about a beginning quilt class.

The pattern used for their fictional class is included in the book, so I made it.

It is lovely!

Then I read Beloved, a Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Toni Morrison that is a tough, emotional read that brings the unimaginable atrocities of slavery to light.

Throughout the novel, there is a quilt. It is quite prominent, all gray with one square of orange. The importance of the quilt has become the topic of many discussions, research papers, and even graduate theses.

I need to – and I will – make this quilt.

Next, I paired How the Grinch Stole Christmas! with my signature t-shirt quilting design to release my very first Storytelling Tees® pattern: The Christmas Star as part of a Christmas in July Blog Hop.

After those three, my mind was on autopilot and my creative juices were flowing!

I decided to challenge myself to pick a book for each month of the year ahead, read it, and then complete a quilt project motivated by the story, the characters, the theme, or the setting.

I have 2021 completely planned out.

I have my sewing projects compiled.

I think it is going to be so much fun that I decided to share (you also know that about me…I love to share!).

I have created the club to be a monthly membership.

The monthly membership fee is nominal and simply helps me pay for the platform, widgets, add-ons, and technology necessary to make it work smoothly. If you join as a founding member, your membership fee will be discounted for life.

Ashli’s Book 2 Quilt Club officially begins in January 2021, but I am leading a complimentary trial month in December.

This way I can test the system and members can test the waters.
