This month is brought to us by the mushroom 🍄🍄🍄
I love neutral fabrics, but I usually use them as background or in a minor role. This month, I need three blocks for the mushroom row of my quilt topper design, and all three blocks are all about tans, beiges, and browns. You know, the color of mushrooms…

As I mentioned in my blog post for Quilt 2 End ALZ, I absolutely love the six fabrics I chose for this month:
The first two are for the official Monthly Color Challenge block provided by Patterns by Jen.
The other four fabrics coordinate with them to create a simple, yet strong, foundational pattern that I designed as a bonus. I call the pattern “Pair of Planks” because the instructions produce two blocks that remind me of wooden planks with wonderful age and texture.

And sewn together, this row is complete:

Eight months in, I’m very happy with how the topper is coming together! Each month I find the new patterns to be unique and eye-catching while the instructions are always clear, concise, and easy to piece. I’m not great at staying consistent, but we are 2/3 of the way through this quilt-along, and I am very proud to announce that I am 100% on track and staying caught up with the group.
On top of that, I love how the color focus is reinforcing my Quilt 2 End ALZ theme of the year: Beauty in Color!
I also love the recipe I shared this month: Chicken and Mushroom Alfredo
Give it a try, let me know what you think.
I would be honored if you signed up for my emails to keep in touch – I have big plans and goals for the remainder of 2021, and I look forward to sharing the ups and downs of my journey 💛
I will be back very soon –
With love and hugs,
Ashli
