I really enjoyed this story!
I gave it 4*’s so you know it is a good one.
The plot, set as a flashback to Paris during World War II, is riveting and alarming and heartbreaking and wonderful.
The story is one of courage, survival, and love.
I was entranced by Kristen Harmel’s voice and style, I felt like I understood the characters, flaws and all. I appreciate when authors create imperfect people that do good and really good people who still are not perfect.
Here are three of my favorite parts…
“Prayers are just words.”
“But they’re words that remind us that there’s something out there greater than ourselves. And they’re words that lead us to be the best versions of ourselves.”
I am a big fan of all things that lead us to the best versions of ourselves!
“...it’s what’s inside a person that counts. And sometimes, you have to walk through fire in order to find your true self. Maybe this is your fire.“
This reminds me so much of Esther 4:14 which asks if perhaps we were not put right here, right now, for a time such as this.
I may not know God’s timing, I may not understand God’s timing, but I can always have faith in God’s timing.
And last, but not least…
“I am not sure about anything. But if we don’t have hope, we don’t have anything. “
Amen to that!

I appreciate your support!
Enjoy the book – I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts on it!
With love and hugs,
