Pie Crust from the Kitchen of Wanda Thompson

December 29, 2020

When one takes a spouse, they marry into a family full of traditions and customs.

And recipes!

To say that Coach’s family consists of good cooks is an understatement, and since our wedding 25 years ago, I have greedily copied down as many recipes as possible from my mother-in-law, my sisters-in-law, and even their in-laws.

This pie crust recipe comes from Coach’s sister-in-law’s mom. (Say that 10 times fast!!)

Miss Wanda – and her pie crust – are sweet treasures in our family!

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups Flour
  • 1.5 cups Crisco Shortening
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • Milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°
  2. Mix dry ingredients
  3. Cut in shortening
  4. Add milk until moist
  5. Knead dough to form ball
  1. Sprinkle a little flour on your work surface
  2. Roll dough to 1/4″ thickness
  3. Lay into pie pan or cut into strips for cobbler
  1. Bake per pie or cobbler recipe or until crust is flaky and golden brown.

NOTE: For cobbler, brush melted butter on top and sprinkle with sugar before baking.

Enjoy!

With love and hugs,

Ashli
