One of my favorite community events each year is the AWARE Tulsa Fall Ladies’ Luncheon every November!
AWARE stands for the Alliance of Women for Alzheimer’s Research and Education. It is an initiative of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, and I have been honored to participate with AWARE as the program chair in 2016, hosting the Spring Tea and chairing the Fall Luncheon that year, as an on-going member of the AWARE Advisory Council, as an Alois Society Partner, and as an annual Table Host.

To work around COVID restrictions, this year each table host is coordinating their own mini event, and I decided that a Zoom Lunch Party would be the perfect way to gather, fit the presentation into the busy pre-holiday season, and be accessible to friends near and far (the best part of having the event via the Internet!).
It was important to me that we still enjoy the “normal” luncheon format with a Welcome and Mission Moment, an update on legislation and education, and an opportunity to financially support AWARE and the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association.
I am most excited to have secured an incredible guest speak:
Miss Caroline McMurry
When a mutual friend told me about Caroline several months ago, I knew I had to meet her!
The first time we got on the phone together, I could tell right off that we are kindred spirits with a focus on faith and family, a love for football, and a heart to end Alzheimer’s disease.
The more we talked, the more I knew Caroline had to be my AWARE guest speaker. She has an amazing story!
From studying the effects of mental health, learning the process to launch life-changing materials, and living through the challenges and struggles of promoting that passion to gaining a huge platform as Miss North Carolina, working with the Alzheimer’s Association on numerous occasions, and ultimately defining her goals and education efforts into her “Forget Me Not: It’s Time to Stop Alzheimer’s Now” program, Caroline has lived the Alzheimer’s Association mission to create a world without ALZ.
