Yesterday I had the opportunity to lead a Training, Education & Achievement (TEA) session for the Junior League of Tulsa.
I am a very proud member of the Junior League where I served on the TEA committee last year, so being asked to lead a TEA event is an incredible honor!
Our topic was “Mindful Yoga” which is always important and down right critical in the current COVID-quarantine-distanced-stressful-situation the world is experiencing.
Mindful Reading
I began the practice with three book recommendations to help understand and implement a routine of intentional mindfulness:
- Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl
- The Art of Stillness by Pico Iyer
- 10% Happier by Dan Harris
You can watch the class video to hear more about each book, but if you haven’t read them, I do think they are all three fabulous!
Feedback
As with all of my endeavors, I try to give myself honest feedback afterwards.
During my yoga teacher training, I got into the habit that feedback should include two items that worked well and two items that have room for improvement.
What I Loved
- Great playlist! Here it is if you’d like to listen: YWMM Powerful Minds 2020
- Good pace…not too fast with the progression from posture to posture, but enough movement to fire up the muscles.
Where I Want to Improve
- No more Miss Nice Girl! I say the word “nice” about 1000 times which is at least 990 too many.
- The music is too loud through my mic which is a bit distracting – sorry.
Practice with Me
I am slowly taping yoga classes to post on my YouTube channel. The purpose of that is two-fold: I think it will be nice to have a video library of the classes I create, and I am currently working towards my 500-hour RYT designation and have to share my teaching since the coursework is all online due to the pandemic.
I know just enough videography to know what I want to create visually, but I don’t know enough to actually accomplish that vision. Please remember that I am in no way a media expert. Pretty please!
So here it is: a 60 minute Mindful Practice with JLT…
Quotes
These three books are filled with inspirational quotes, stories, and anecdotes. Here are the two I shared during yoga:
Please, I urge you to give yourself the gift of mindfulness – moments of peace, quiet, and that beautiful space behind the waterfall.
With love and hugs,
Ashli
PS: Here is my bio that was shared with those on the Zoom class to tell a little more about my League journey and my yoga experience:

She is a wife, mom, speaker, designer, and author sharing her favorite parts of life through her blog – MeAndCoach.com – and spearheading a community of people who love quilts and quilting but hate Alzheimer’s disease with her nonprofit, Quilt 2 End ALZ, Inc
